DESCRIPTION: This species grows to a maximum length of 1.8cm and is a laterally flattened amphipod that is curved towards its rear end. The ground colour is reddish-brown, occasionally with a greenish-tinge, the eyes are dark and rounded and the 2nd antennae are long with long basal segments with the 1st antennae being short. DISTRIBUTION: Common throughout where suitable habitat occurs.  HABITAT: Among debris and under small rocks on areas with coarse sand. BEST TIME TO SEE: All year round.  |
